A team traveled to Amboseli, Kenya in April and July this past year. The iwilGO teams hosted Maasai elder and community meetings – women and men came together to discuss their hopes and dreams of providing equal education for their children. Many cups of chai were shared, and all participated in the research and document need to propose a new Secondary School.

Life is changing for the better and we are grateful. We have been lagging far behind the rest of Kenya’s education. Many of our girls cannot read or write, and we have high drop out rates for our girls. It’s time to make education equal. It’s time for education for all of our children.”

~ Esther Semeiyan, 24 year old mother of 4, who was not allowed to attend secondary school

The teams participated in a traditional wedding, sponsored primary school students, built a little library and W.O.M.E.N – Women of Maasai Entrepeneural Network was ignited.  517 blocks were handmade for the Joanne House interior walls, and a carport – which will host a new Maasai led church service on Sundays – was completed. Landscaping, acacia tree trimming, slashing, slashing and more slashing. The electrical estimate is complete, and Kilifi trees were planted. Once the Joanne House is complete, community centered programming will begin.
